2 DAYS ISKANDERKUL EXPLORATION
On this 2 days trip to Iskanderkul lake you will not only see all the highlights, but also drive to a tiny Sarytag village located under the huge mountain locally known as 40 devils mountain and stay at a guesthouse in the village for overnight. On day 2 there are two options for a day hike to Arg valley with its juniper meadows or a bit more strenious one to the peak of Alexander's Hat, a mountain standing right in front of Iskanderkul lake, from where you will have a fantastic views of the lake and the surrounding mountains

9:00: Meeting and start driving to Iskanderkul lake. 3,5 hours
12:30: Arrive to Iskanderkul, have lunch
13:30 Walking to the shore and taking boat to a sand beach
14:30 Hiking to snake lake and on to Fann Niagara waterfall
16:00 Driving to Sarytag village
16:30 Arriving to guesthouse in the village

Explore the legendary Alexanders lake
ISKANDERKUL DISCOVERY
When you first look at the pictures of the lake on the internet you immediately think they have been edited with photoshop. But once you're there you won't believe your eyes! The lake is the biggest one of the Zeravshan Valley with incredible milky blue waters, a little bit too cold though. Glacial in origin, Lake Alexander (Iskanderkul) offers panoramic vistas from an altitude of 2,195 m (7,201 ft). The turquoise waters contrast wonderfully against its alpine surroundings In the area close to the lake there is also a 38mt-high waterfall called Fann Niagara, a small dark water lake called Snake Lake and a water spring called Panjchasma (five springs) with healing properties. Not far from the lake, at 7km away, in the Saratog Village there are several guesthouses and homestays for overnight. A perfect place to start other hikes around the lake or to the top of the Alexander's hat or into the Arg Valley. Iskanderkul is a perfect destination for a week end trip, at only 3 hs drive from Dushanbe.
